NamCore Studio - Edit, convert, manage accounts and characters

Hey there,

I want to announce a project that I've been working on for quite some time now.

NamCore Studio is a tool that was build to help server administrators manage player accounts and characters beyond what a simple database editor is able to do.

It offers a simple but powerful user interface that makes it easier to work with complex data by analyzing and visualizing it.

Disclaimer:

This project is still in early development, many features are not yet implemented and the support for MaNGOS is very limited at the moment. However, I'd like to provide a preview of the general functionality and the UI and would like to get some feedback on the user experience. So if you have any suggestions or want to contribute to this open source project, let me know.

Currently only works with MaNGOS and TrinityCore 3.3.5 database structures.

So, what can it do?

NamCore Studio is a database editor. This editor will allow you to analyze, modify, display, convert and manage data in your character and realm databases. The goal was to provide a much more user friendly, in-game like environment to handle the data, compared to a bare database editor such as HeidiSQL or Navicat.

Features (Some of them are not yet implemented)

> Removing player accounts and characters

> Displaying and editing general account/character information

> View, edit, add, delete character armor items, inventory items, bank items, achievements, glyphs, faction reputations, spells, skills, professions, quests and more

> Export player account and character data and create template files

> Import template files or browse an online database of user-generated content and load them into your database (NYI)

> Transfer accounts and characters from one database to another (cross emulation/cross patch) (NYI)

> Load characters from the official Battle.net armory and import them into your database.

Good to see you back in action! This new utility looks very promising and I can hardly wait to try it out. The UI looks professional and slick, without the usual clutter of overdone eye-candy you see in a lot of these kinds of apps. The NamCore logo looks cool, so well designed you'd swear it was from a big-time software publisher.

I do have a few questions regarding the source:

Will the code work with VS 2010? I use Win XP so newer versions of Visual Studio are not an option. Can I use the same project files (I feel this would be a "No")? Is there a tool for transferring them into VS 2010 (I'd be surprised)? Or do I have to build my own project with the source, assuming the code is compatible (The most likely outcome)?

I'm not very comfortable working with Visual Studio. My IDE for C++ is usually Notepad and I tend to stick with open source tools.

I just tried using Visual Studio 2010. Just open the "Namcore Studio_VS12.sln" file with an editor and change the format version in the top line to 11.00, save it and then try open it with VS.
