1. I am a fairly dedicated Linux user and do all of my work on MaNGOS and databases in Linux. I currently use Gentoo GNU/Linux 64bit, but the content here should apply to many other distros as well. You see, I just figured out that if you're running KDE (not Gnome, XFCE, LXDE, or others) and using the Dolphin file browser, you can REALLY make using GIT simple! All you need to do is install the Dolphin plugins package for your distro. On Gentoo I had to emerge "dolphin-plugins". Your method may vary. Once the plugins are installed, open Dolphin and go to "Settings->Configure Dolphin" or "Control->Configure Dolphin". Enable the GIT support by checking the box next to "git". Press OK, close Dolphin, and then re-open it. Navigate to a folder containing a local GIT repo and right-click somehwere inside. YOu can now switch branches, create branches, push, pull, commit, and more with a GUI interface! I wish I had known this a year or so back when I was struggling to learn GIT. Oh well, I hope it helps another person!
2. Hi everybody, have some problem launching mangosd.exe, dev21 branch, here's what it says : 2016-06-20 19:09:04 ERROR:Map file 'data/maps/0004331.map' is non-compatible version created with a different map-extractor version. 2016-06-20 19:09:04 ERROR:Correct *.map files not found in path 'data/maps' or *.vmtree/*.vmtile files in 'data/vmaps'. Please place *.map and vmap files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangosd.conf file. I've used tools exe generated by DEV21 branch compilation I've put all data folders in a folder and configure the worldserver.conf to point to the right folder Is there some bug into the matrix ? or am i doing something wrong ?
3. Hello I know I'm very new here and I'm extremely new to this but I'm using "How to Setup a MaNGOS Rel21 Server from Scratch". I found it in the wiki and so far i have been able to work out what to do for the most part. However i have run into a snag that has had me stumped and i cant processed any further. I am at the part were i have to Extracting Game Data 1) Click on “My computer” 2) Navigate to the following path: C:\MangosSource\server\bin 3) Copy all the files into your ‘Warcraft’ Folder (where Launcher.exe and WOW.exe are) 4) Run 'ExtractResources.sh' and follow the onscreen prompts, you should choose the option to extract everything. 5) Once it is complete, select the DBC, Maps and VMaps folders and move them to “C:\Mangos\data” 6) The “Buildings” folder can be deleted. I copied that from the text. i cant find a bin file in the server folder. i did do a quick serch and did find the 'ExtractResources.sh' I desided that i should coppie them over like stated in the instructions and i cant find the maps t all. if i could get any help that would be appreciate it a lot. I dont know if it helps but i am using Win 7 git mysql 5.6 set up for 64bit sqlyogcommunity 64
4. Hi to everybody, URL of Wiki: getMaNGOS WIKI GIT Url Used: GitHub - mangoszero/server: Mangos ZERO is a server for World of Warcraft. The server serves full world content including authentication & scripts support. Compatible with World of Warcraft clients 1.12.1(5875), 1.12.2(65) & 1.12.3(6141). Report all issues at https://www.getmangos.eu/project.php?projectid=15 - Playable. In active development. following steps on Installation of Mangos i noticed the following mistakes or missing parts: - In the Chapter 'Exctracting Game Data' at step 2 it says to navigate to the path “C:\MangosSource\server\bin”, but there is no 'bin' folder - At step 10 it says to use 'ExtractResources.sh', that i suppose it should be in 'bin' folder - In the Chapter 'Compiling the MangosSource Code' i can't find 'mangosdVC*.sln'. - At step 9 it refers to 'server\src\bindings' but i can't find it. Hope you could help me finding out where i'm wrong. I'm on Windows using VS2012
5. Hello everyone, I'm having some issues getting a server up and running. I'm following the "Installing Mangos on Windows" Installation guide but either I'm doing something wrong or the guide isn't accurate. For example after using "git clone --recursive http://github.com/mangostwo/server" I have to navigate to the bindings folder using "cd mangos/src/bindings", but this folder doesn't even exist. The guide also wants me to "edit CMakeLists.txt in this folder", which folder? I assume it's supposed to be in the bindings folder but like I said, it doesn't exist. I've checked the other CMakeLists.txt files but none of them contain the sentence "# add_subdirectory(scripts)" Could someone point me to an accurate guide? Or point out if I'm doing something wrong? Thank you Nevermind. I couldn't find anything using the search, but I just noticed a thread under the header "Similar Threads" underneath my thread. https://www.getmangos.eu/solved/10394-help-please-mangos-wiki-installation-outdated.html
6. This guide is for Release 21 (0.21.0) version of Mangos. This guide explains how to get the source code from our git repositories and compile and run with a default config. This guide assumes you have set-up a database and user accounts for it. Before running the server, you need to run the extractor and put dbc, vmaps, maps and if you have them, mmaps in the folder with the server files. Required Files Git for windows - Git - Downloads Install making sure the following options are selected Windows explorer intergration - Simple context menu (Git bash, Git GUI) Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015 - Free Dev Tools - Visual Studio Community 2015 Install with default options selecting C++ when it asks you what programming language you are using [*]Notepad++ - http://notepad-plus-plus.org Useful for editing .conf files and any other editable files. [*]Additional required files are downloaded while cloning the repo Getting the source code Mangos Zero will be used for this guide. Browse to where you would like to clone the files Right click inside a blank area in the folder and select "Git Bash Here" In the black command box type git clone --recursive https://github.com/mangoszero/server -b develop21 This will clone the latest Sever source into a folder called server - Including the --recursive is very important! Installing the additional requirements Go into the new Server / win folder It should have these files listed Install: Cmake, mysql and openSSL (which version depends on if you are running x32 or x64 [x32 being more stable]). Default options are fine in most cases. MaNGOS EasyBuild Run MaNGOS_EasyBuild.exe located in server/win Easy Build main screen Click the "check now" button You should see green ticks and if you have everything done correctly you should be able to go to the build options page. Once on the build options page tick the "Include PlayerBot AI", if you are certain you are not going to use this feature then leave unticked. Clicking generate project will run cmake but inside of the EasyBuild application, you will see the output. Visual studio should be started when it is finished generating. Output showing EasyBuild with the option to automatically open visual studio unticked If you wish to compile at a later time the built files will be under /server_build/ you just need to double click on MaNGOS.sln Compiling the source code Visual studio Once the project has loaded go to the drop down just below the team menu and select Release and Win32 Press F7 or go to the Build menu and select Build Solution The Mangos server is now compiling and time to go get a coffee, this process should take around 5-30 minutes depending on your system. Older single core systems will take longer. That's it! now head into the /server_build/bin / Win32_Release folder and your server files will be there.
7. Thanks Foereaper for your help in the other thread. I have managed to get to the compiling stage. I have performed this in debug mode, as suggested, and two errors have occurred. Out of the following files that I should see: lua_scripts folder ace.dll ahbot.conf.dist libmysql.dll mangosd.conf.dist mangosd.exe realmd.conf.dist realmd.exe I only have the folder, ace.dll, and ahbot.conf.dist. I also have the three pdb files. After adding the git path to my Windows environment, this is the first stage at which I am encountering an issue. I don't know what happened with libmysql.dll as I can't find it listed in the Visual Studio output. However, the message says that 1 was skipped (see bottom of this message), so maybe it was that. The underlying error seems to be the same for the mangosd and realmd. When I try to post the errors, I keep getting a posting error that I have 16 images in my message. I assume it's picking up on a character combination, as I have tried Notepad++ to strip anything underlying from what I am trying to post, with no success. I've attached the build output instead. new 1.txt
8. Greetings, me and a friend of mine are trying to compile a MangosZero server, we went through almost the whole guide found here; https://getmangos.eu/wiki/Installation%20Guides/Windows/MaNGOS%20Zero%20Rel20.md But we don't seem to get the Bin folder that you supposively should have. Is there somewhere we can download this folder or does anyone have thought about what we have done wrong? If you wish, please add me on skype: thezphex

10. Hi there, I'm setting up a fresh Mangos Zero server. I've compiled successfully using this documentation: https://www.getmangos.eu/frequently-asked-questions/9876-getting-amp-compiling-mangos-server.html And loaded the realmloaddb.sql query from: https://github.com/mangos/Realm_DB/blob/master/Setup/realmdLoadDB.sql But when I open realmd.exe, I get: SQL: SELECT required_20140607_Realm_Resync FROM realmd_db_version LIMIT 1 query ERROR: Unknown column 'required_20140607_Realm_Resync' in 'field list' The table `realm_db_version` in your [REALMD] database indicates that this database is out of date! [A] You have: --> `20150409_Playerbot_and_Warden.sql` You need: --> `20140607_Realm_Resync.sql` You must apply all updates after [A] to to use mangos with this database. These updates are included in the sql/updates folder. Please read the included [README] in sql/updates for instructions on updating. However, my /database/realm folder is empty whereas my /world and /characters folders contain another folder called "updates" (I see no sql/updates folder in any of my of files). How should I proceed? Is there a place to manually get realmd updates? Also, if I've used the above documentation to compile (it says it's for release 19), am I to use Rel19 folder for world updates? Thanks!
11. EDIT: I seem to stand corrected. There was a guide here that I had recently come across. I am very grateful to its author for writing it, and I look forward to the day when a link to it is added to the "How to Compile" tutorial guide that I had followed, as it would have further enabled facilitation of this lengthy process, rather than having to waste your time reading this now-pointless thread. Though I'll certainly leave it up as an example of what happens if you don't quite know where to look for further non-active/human guidance at any particular step. ---------------------Actual original post below------------------ Hello all! Missed you bunches. Just got the newest release of MangosZero. Super-exciting! Congratulations very much on the hard work. So I get down and dirty with it, following compilation guides, and am now extracting resources using a few scattered past memories about how to go about doing it, using ExtractResources.sh (Which I had placed in the root WoW folder). I even created a new folder "maps" to house the maps, and the other three folders (Buildings, vmaps, and mmaps) are created automatically, but not maps, for some reason. The maps and everything did seem to compile. The "Buildings" folder appears to be fully populated, though I have no idea what it's for. The "maps" and "vmaps" folder is empty, though it did appear to compile all of the maps successfully. Maybe it's the "dir_bin" file in the Buildings folder. No idea. Anyway, on to my super-rambling point, after it finished with the maps, and an innocent-looking quill-boar related misc error, I get a popup. Yeah, but what program? I did a search for "ace.dll" on the forums and nothing came up. What could this possibly be? Also, where are the maps actually stored, anyway? I'm kinda getting worried. Or do they only appear alongside the vmaps?
