  1. Running into an issue when I try to build. I am following this guide: Noticed when it was grabbing packages like ACE and what not from .de, it would fail and skip. However, the install would push forward. I am assuming it found what it needed, but it gave more errors. Then I followed this guide: Finally, was able to get the build up to 97%, but it fails with finding -lACE. Does anyone have any tips?   3. Hello, i followed the guide and my server is running. But when i'm loged all npc labeled with "unknown". They have no quests, i can't buy something and no spell works. in the logfile are no big error messages. The mangos.exe always displays the following message when the character moves.

  5. hello dear MaNGOS community, after tinkering around with some "re-packs", I decided to take on the journey, to build/compile a mangos server, myself. I already got the original clients, from classic up to cata and also the needed patches, to go up to the latest version number, for each expansion. I want to do this, mainly for kind of education and running some server(s) in my LAN at home, to play with friends and/or just having fun, being GM May I ask a question (or two): I read the install-intructions on the git-hub page/wiki and wonder, if and how I can download and build more than 1 core, to have a mangos server for classic, tbc, wotlk and cata? From what I see, it should be doable, by just seperating stuff by different folders? Or will something, like overall paths or variables get into my way, when building? Got MySQL server 5.7, MySQL workbench, GIT, Notepad++ and Visual Studio 2015 community edition installed, already... so I am ready to start Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Kind regards, ELO
  6. Hello everyone, I'm interested in this project and how it works, so I tried installing MaNGOS Zero on my Debian laptop. I'm running Debian Testing (Stretch at the moment then). I had an issue during the build process where I have a compile error. I have clang 3.8.1 and I'm linking a screenshot of the issue. What do you think is causing this and how would I fix this ? Is it because of a wrong clang version due to running Stretch and not Jessie ?
  7. Hi all. I have a Synology which I would like to install Mangos in that. Has there been anyone that was successful in doing this? It does have MariaDB added on, but I am unsure about the build process itself. If not perhaps I Can build it on another linux box and move over parts of it? I thought I'd rather ask now before I wasted too much of my time. Thanks
  8. THIS GUIDE IS OUTDATED, PLEASE USE OUR WIKI GUIDES This guide is for Release 21 (0.21.0) version of Mangos. This guide is aimed to explain how to get the source code from our git repositories and compile and run with a default config. This guide assumes you have set-up a database and user accounts for it. Before you can run your server you will need to of course run an extractor and put the DBC, vmaps and mmaps(if you have mmaps) in the folder with all the server core files. Required Files Git for windows - Git - Downloads Install making sure the following options are selected Windows explorer intergration - Simple context menu (Git bash, Git GUI) Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015 - Free Dev Tools - Visual Studio Community 2015 Install with default options selecting C++ when it asks you what programming language you are using Notepad++ - http://notepad-plus-plus.org Useful for editing .conf files and any other editable files. Additional required files are downloaded while cloning the repo Getting the source code Mangos Zero will be used for this guide. Browse to where you would like to clone the files Right click inside a blank area in the folder and select "Git Bash Here" In the black command box type git clone --recursive https://github.com/mangoszero/server This will clone the latest Sever source into a folder called server - Including the --recursive is very important! Installing the additional requirements Go into the new Server / win folder It should have these files listed Install: Cmake, mysql and openSSL (which version depends on if you are running x32 or x64 [x32 being more stable]). Default options are fine in most cases. MaNGOS EasyBuild Run MaNGOS_EasyBuild.exe located in server/win Easy Build main screen Click the "check now" button You should see green ticks and if you have everything done correctly you should be able to go to the build options page. Once on the build options page tick the "Include PlayerBot AI", if you are certain you are not going to use this feature then leave unticked. Clicking generate project will run cmake but inside of the EasyBuild application, you will see the output. Visual studio should be started when it is finished generating. Output showing EasyBuild with the option to automatically open visual studio unticked If you wish to compile at a later time the built files will be under /server_build/ you just need to double click on MaNGOS.sln Compiling the source code Visual studio Once the project has loaded go to the drop down just below the team menu and select Release and Win32 Press F7 or go to the Build menu and select Build Solution The Mangos server is now compiling and time to go get a coffee, this process should take around 5-30 minutes depending on your system. Older single core systems will take longer. That's it! now head into the /server_build/bin / Win32_Release folder and your server files will be there.
  9. There used to be a looong long guide detailing how one could download, build/compile/whatever else was needed for a Mangos server, from scratch.. Said guide (from the Mangos wiki) is now gone. So i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to write such a guide again. And before you say it, yes, i've seen those surviving the forum change and the wiki "update". For someone starting with zero, nada, knowledge (like me), they do not help. Too many inbetween steps missing To explain what i want first: a 1.12.x client i can run from my PC. For me alone. No servers, no other people. In a sense yes, a repack. Mangos doesn't do repacks, i know, am just telling you what i want so you may understand/direct me accordingly in case there are steps i need not take. I have already read MadMax's guide here. The problem is that with the forum transition, pics he'd attached are now gone, commands he'd typed now show funny. Most importantly, his guide (he states so too) demands a certain knowledge in advance.. knowledge i do not possess! ie i'm not lazy, just.. don't know. Have also found a vid for dummies, except: 1) it's old (something tells me the repository address is wrong, every guide gives a different address???) 2) it goes by Git GUI instead of Git BASH. Don't know what these are, but MadMax's says Bash. edit: have also come across other guides (Reaper-Xs being the most detailed one), except they two contradict both the above and/or reference programs i'd swear are not needed anymore. Could someone please help, i can't be the only one hitting a brick wall. Just.. keep in mind i am CLUELESS, keep in mind linking won't help. Two days of googleing later, i can tell you that much..     Hi everyone, and thanks for the efforts put into this project so far! I myself am an old school wower. Played on retail beginning on day one. And the majority of my played time was in this era. I had 4 level 60 characters on Alliance side. And took part in raids up to BWL. I've played a bit through each expansion over time. But none of them kept me subbing as long as vanilla did. I'm interested in making a build of zero and possibly contributing to it at some point. I was re-introduced to the work here when checking out some re-packs over on ac web. Looking forward to learning more and digging through the info here and on the db's
  12. I'm currently a working musician and in school full time. Just changed my major to Computer Science and plan to minor in Computer Technology. Going to slowly buy the parts to build my own laptop starting tomorrow. I really like video games so that's where I'm kind of wanting to start in software and programming and such. Just started to build my first server yesterday and have recently played WOW for several years. It his been quite some time since I have played, but I figure this would be a fun platform to get to know some aspects of programming and developing. Any words of advice are appreciated. My real passion is music and I'm currently working on putting together my engineering setup. I'm really busy, but I'll try to come on and say hi as much as I can. Nice to meet you guys and looking forward to being part of this community.
  13. Hi, I've followed this guide on how to use Cmake to build project files for compiling: "That binary is intended to check requirements for the fresh install, nothing more. The develop21 branch is better in many aspects (in particular, it is used actually by the developers), but it does not contain pre-built VS solution files. You should create them with cmake (use 2.8 version from here). Just create a new folder for build files, in the Cmake GUI point to it as "Where to build binaries" and point to the root of your repo clone (where is the README.md file located) as "Where is the source code". Then "Configure" and "Generate". If the system requirements were met, you get the solution files in the build folder." This was from another post on the forums here. When I get to the "Configure", I get the following error message pop up: Imgur Here are my CmakeOutput.Log and CmakeError.Log: Cmake Error Log - Pastebin.com - Cmake Error Log Cmake output log - Pastebin.com - Cmake Output Log I am using Windows Server 2008, and the GUI version of CMake. I have tried to compile with x86 and x64, and have downloaded both versions of OpenSSL. I downloaded latest Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 as well. Unfortunately, there is a dire lack of guides available for building these project files on windows and I have hit a wall, with no more ideas on how to fix this issue. Hence, my cry for help from someone who may be able to read the log files I've posted and make out the difference from the head and the tail
