Also updating to latest kernel can I think improve some networking perf because of the two patches made by Google.
The first patch was included in a previous kernel release: Receive Packet Steering (description: http://lwn.net/Articles/362339/).
The second one is: Receive Flow Steering (description: http://lwn.net/Articles/382428/).

hi, put this in your /etc/apt/sources.list
the latest percona build for lenny work perfectly on our ubuntu 10.10 Test Servers
According to their news, they have updated to maverick, so using lenny is not necessary
Replace lenny by maverick, it works like a charm.

Great stats Undergarun.
Could you please give us the average amount of players ?
Well, I will perhaps test read/write isolation with a clustered MySQL on low populated server, but I'm still afraid of the database consistency due to the replication. For your information Tungsten cluster does replication very easily, and it includes a connector with SQL read/write splitting. On two VM (single core 1,6GHz with 512Ram) I got some nice perfs (around 700 rw/s). PM me if you need some information on how set it up.
