I can say on offical

if you give pet attack command (whatever mode is active) = you'll enter combat

if pet get agroo and has defance mode = you'll enter combat

if pet get agroo and has aggresife mode = you'll enter combat

if pet has passive mode = i will test today. (i think entering combat possible)

Sorry for my english but you'll enter combat when pet in combat action.
