How to update the right way ?

Is my version.

ive seen newer.

My question is were and how to do it ?

i dont know what to search for and do not know how to handle it wen i find it. PLEEEEASE HELP..

In general updating MaNGOS includes both upgrading the source code, and also applying updates to your database.

The most important thing is to update your MaNGOS databases using mysqldump or any other database backup software you prefer.

Next you will have to chose if you want a manual update, or if you just want to upgrade to a newer release of UDB, say UDB revision 399.

Both are possible, but work differently.

The way is quite easy:

1) Get most Recent MaNGOS and Compile/Install it (or update to) -- see Guides here around

2) Get most recent world-database: UDB is currently at 399 (see _their_ forum for instructions

If you update anything, ensure to backup your old stuff prior (actually this is only important if you did custom stuff)

Please notice that the newest version rarely is the best. It often happens that by fixing some small error some huge errors being created. You should always keep the server files and database backups before running an update.

As often mentioned: backup your database before and after each change. If you can, version control your database inside git, mercurial, whatever you prefer. With that out of the way, you'll be on the safe side of things.
