Can't login to server

Yeah, I just submitted a support ticket now, I am going to see what their response is, I am also going to link this thread in the ticket and wait for a reply

Edit: BTW, can someone recommend me another VPS provider if this one doesn't work?

I recently signed up with a VPS package and I am having problem connecting to one of the server services I am hosting from my VPS. It's a game server (mangos) that runs two instances, one in port 3724 and one on port 8085. Doing a portscan on the box, port 3724 is reachable but not 8085

I have now halted the server, but it can be restarted by typing:

/opt/mangos/bin/mangosd

/opt/mangos/bin/realmd

respectively

Can you help me, please?

This is the servers community forum with a thread started by another one of your customers. Any comments?

Will keep the thread updated with their reply :)

Have you forwarded all needed ports (the realmlist port should be the missing one in this case) (because i think you are running this at home?)

I've forwarded the ports many times, and I've tried it on ubuntu and on windows! I don't know why I can't connect. I'm hosting from a VPS (vpsland.com) to make it even stranger, i have also tried using trinity with similar results. I am currently using Windows Server 2008 standard, I've turned off my firewall (for testing), so that is not a factor, at all. As I said it's a VPS, there is no router. I get past account authentication, and then hang at loading character list, or success or, connecting. Very strange, I am very aggravated by this problem.. 8.(

I could probably assist you better in a instant messaging chat, so if you dont mind that then contact me in private :)

Sure, I can give you both the chance to actually log on my VPS and see my configurations, but just to reinstate what I've said earlier, I've tried it on two operating systems, and self compiled or pre-compiled(repack)

I'll be watching this thread with interest, was just about to post my own inquiry about the same problem, with the same provider when I saw this thread ...

edit: BTW I am running linux (Debian 5). Compilation of sources, install and configuration went flawlessly, except I had to manually compile and install cmake as Debian 5 bundles with an outdated version.

I did try that, changed it to another port of a common service which wasn't already occupied to masquerade it, just in case. Portscan reported it could reach the port of both mangosd and realmd but still no luck. Live chat at vpslan stated that they did not block port 8085, but its odd then, that I could not connect through 8085, but as soon as I changed the port I could. So, think I am off to somewhere else if I don't get a reply anytime soon.
