when you download addons

sometimes u have to download a slightly older version.....

as when the client changes addons work differently therefor the updated addon might be for newer clients...

just my idea anyway

just update mangos by GIT

from UDB 0.11.0 Core_7069_SD2_838_(3.0.3), just update mangos db from 7074_01_mangos_playercreateinfo_spell.sql throug actually 7252_02_mangos_mangos_string.sql.

All updates worked fine but I'm not be able to update characters db (I think from 7075_01_characters_character_spell.sql through 7267_01_characters_auctionhouse.sql

Every updates fall in error and I've noticed that in characters db, table "character_db_version" is'nt present !

What's wrong ? Where is my fault ?

Refresh what version of the table you have

to what i can tell you have most likerly missed one update

and now every update after is an error as it checks the current version and then applys the update

updates MUST be done in order.

So just noticed they released a major revision

has anyone else tried it

what do u think?

drop the mangos database

then put it back in

might fix what ever is causing the issue

hi ... i have compiled the fles for windows as said in the other thread but now i have no idea how do i update ... i mean i understod from your explanation but ... when i go to my db_version it says "mangos default database" now should i go in the compiled folder and look for updates and put all the files that i find in the folders with 05, 06 etc and then all the other files ?

when you look at the "db_version" table,

look at the column header, not the content.

says something like require_#_#....

(its the column header u need to look at not the content.

loads of programs like AutoCAD

any software were using at the uni is normally included

such as VB6 when i used it last year

for the whole of the mangos setup install etc

i'd disable UAC as it's caused some conflicts on friends pc's

I love UAC when it comes to work (repairing "idiots" pc's...)

it does filter out alot

but it also can ruin some stuff where it would allow part install of motherboard drivers...

I'm pretty sure the Express Edition doesnt compile the 64bit.

Thanks, this somewhat explains things... in an unsure kind of way. Unfortunately I am not new to mangos, trying to update from release 6354 and so at some point there is a sudden change:

06751_realmd_account.sql
06760_mangos_creature_template.sql
2008_10_18_01_characters_characters.sql
2008_10_18_02_mangos_spell_proc_event.sql
...
2008_12_15_01_mangos_arenas.sql
6939_01_mangos_quest_template.sql
...

So if I understood how to apply the old/new system I can't really say the same about the things in between.

Find out what database versions you have

character database: character_db_version

mangos database: db_version

find what the column header says, and then look for that sql file in the sql\\updates folder

then update all of the files after that... could take awhile...

if u havnt got many custom sections to ur mangos DB, then id drop it and start again...

as for characters, im guessing people wouldnt like u removing all their characters, so your need to apply all the updates for that

make sure ur running the latest copy from the SVN

also this kinda needs to be broughtup in there forum not this one...

the dates are for somewhat older revisions...

i think they started with revisions, then changed to dates...

and now were back to using revisions... =)

If your new to mangos, then theres a pretty good chance your never need to touch teh date versions

if u noticed i posted a few hours before you and he didnt have pictures in his post then eitha

but the information is shared all over the internet so people can learn!

The original intentions of the internet where "good" just like google's slogan "don't be evil"

If you want to edit and compile your own version... then do it!

If mangos was to do something like that, it would be a community very quickly shut down.

Many private servers get shut down when they start to make money, or violate the terms and conditions of the Blizzard agreements.

This learning community does NOT break any Terms of service!

Because of that people are able to use this community as a educational project.

I personally have learnt how to use C++, SQL, PHP and a few other bits and bobs because of this project!

Stop trying to ruin it.

So i was thinking:

I'd like to make an Addon ingame

Taking as many of the .[command] options as possible

and making some kind of GUI when your playing wow so you can open the "mangos" window

and your have a list of available commands to your account level (like GM etc...)

this would be based on the .command showing what commands you have available

then with this some kind of tabbed pages, showing various commands andwhat not

searched "mangos" suprisingly i didn't find anything, and i doubt they would list it for long anyway.

But still... some kind of GUI within WoW for commands would be nice =)

This kind of development is "abit" different to any other developments i can think of that happen here

so im not really sure how this is gonna turn out, or if we even have anyone here that is familiar with writing addons!
