Warlock Imp minion issues (Passive ability, and use of the Fireball)

Passive ability not working properly and imp not using the Fireball

1) Passive ability
If the imp is engaged in combat, it will continue fighting even if the Passive ability is activated by the player.

2) Fireball
The imp should use the fireball when it first goes into combat, but it does not. It should use this attack until the mana runs too low, as far as I remember, then go into hand to hand combat. Or should it hang back ???? I forget!
