https forum access issue

Hi,

Am I the only one wanted to browse over the forums using https ?

If yes this is too bad :(

Anyway, it seems that when you direct access to the forum with https it works fine except that any links are written with http, so you left the secure browsing as soon as you click a link....

TheLuda can you check this ?

Kind regards,

fdb.

out of curiosity, why would you want to view the ENTIRE forums through https? sounds like that would be adding a lot of extra overhead to do the encryption when all the forums are publicly visible to begin with.

Maybe just enable https for private messaging and user login would be sufficient

Edit: on top of that looking at the certificate that I got when I tested https on getmangos.eu just now, it's not even for this domain, so users would get errors/warning anytime they tried to access a https resource

Sorry, but I can not supply https support. Certificate working in every major browser for encrypting a development forums sounds rather odd to me. Would increase the monthly bills but not do any good IMHO.

Care to share your rationale for SSL/TLS encryption for a discussion forum?

The certificate is for *.gridserver.com , which is somewhat confusing. The best and zero-money-cost way would be to generate your own certificate (assuming you have complete control over http server) and self-sign it. Such certificate will still show as "invalid" in most browsers, but you can distribute it's fingerprint via another channel (like git repository), so users can check it's identity and install it to their browsers.
