How To: Save build log to text document

I googled around and finally found out how to save gcc build log to a text document!

This is how i did it:

make |& tee error.log

(cmake first then make |& tee error.log)

I usually use

make 2>&1 | tee build.log

I think tee will keep you able to see the log realmtime while your option just make you wait without knowledge of where you are in the compiling process right?

Right, mine just dumps everything into the log file. I use that mostly to run build in the background.
