Check if you have ml.exe in "MVS9InstallDir\\VC\\bin". If its not here then do something (reinstall IDE with full features list). ml.exe was included in MVS 9.0 Express Edition SP1. So if you are using old IDE version (< 9.00.30729.01) then it will not compile.

On Windows you can execute this script from git bash, that comes with Git Version Control System.
