Increase Creature Spawn Range

Is it possible to increase the creature spawn range, and thus allow players to overlook a a greater area around them? If not, can someone point me to the right part in the source code?

Thats handelt with Visibility.Distance.Creature in mangosd.conf, but I think its broken, often tested many values but no result...
