Mayhem Scripting Project

Hello, I am Delivery and I would like to start a scripting project. Now please don't flame or anything but I don't have very much scripting knowlege beyond lua and sql but that's what im posting this for. I am looking for experienced scripters that want to expand their horizons and make things that will awe the emulation community. Im not here to be selfish and take programmers code and use it for my own personal gain. Im here to see if I can get a group together that will work good and produce quality scripts for their emulator.

My plans for this project are as follows:

  • * Create scripts for Arcemu, Hearthstone, and Mangos. If any other emulators approach our project we will support them as well, with their own respective developers.
    * Each emulator will have developers from that community to work on scripting for that community, though any developer can work on scripts for any emulator as they wish.
    * All developers will be scripting based on one central idea for their emulator, if any other ideas arise for that emulator it should be postponed until the original idea is completed.
    * There will be one team leader for the respective projects, and there is no limit as to the amount of developers that can be placed on a scripting project. The team leader will be charged with the responsibility of making sure coding submitted is clean, not to boss everyone around.

Scripting Languages should include C++, C# (For add-ons), SQL, and LUA.

This project is multi-platform and is strictly non-blizzlike scripts (such as football scripts and other things).

This is a really good idea, but for start i would recommend trying to support one project. You will lack people and resources at the beggining, and you will find yourself working mostly alone. Don't let that discourage you. I am working on some sort of custom/fun core and i am amazed that there are NO custom or simply fun scripts out there, everyone pushes "Blizzlike" like we do not have SD2 and ACID to do that.

Yeah, who comes to private servers for a completely blizzlike experience? Haha im just looking to make some fun scripts.

One of the ideas I have on my mind right now is creating a script that will enable users to play american style football on a server. This script would use the leather ball that you can throw around, end zones, and some other stuff I can probably think up later.

Some things that would be nessecary for this game:

Knockdown will be the most important spell in this game, everytime the ball carrier gets knocked down the play resets. Players get four tries to get to the target yardage before the ball is turned over.

O-line/D-line: Defensive line npcs will always try to knockdown the quarterback, if the quarterback is knocked down the down is over. Offensive line will always try to knockdown the defensive line, keeping them from getting to the quarterback

Linebackers will be played by players and have a similar function to the defensive line: knock down the quarterback, but they also serve the purpose of stopping running plays.

Safeties will be played by players and serve the function of stopping pass plays, this will have to be worked on since pass plays should be the ideal option due to the fact that there may be no way to stop or intercept passes through scripting, it will be looked into

Wide recievers and halfbacks will be played by players, both serve the function of getting the ball up the field and scoring by getting the ball into the endzone

Tanks/Stunlockers = Guards, tanks have to make sure the ball carrier gets to the end zone. There will be certain npcs in place to make sure they stop the ball carrier, as well as other players.

NPCs cannot die, you must stun or slow them down to keep them away from the ball carrier

The ball carrier will have a flag visual on their character

Players will be immune to damaging spells, the only way to stop them from scoring is to use the stunning spell learned before the game starts.

Of course this script will have to have some major thinking skills, as well as programming skills. If anyone would like to help with the script they are welcome to. As I only really know sql I can help with that part to speed up the time in creating the script.

First off, you shouldn't refer to MaNGOS as an emulator, it offends people.

Secondly, if you want to support LUA or C# on MaNGOS, you'll need to do a lot of work adapting it to those languages, which means lots of mucking around with C++. I would help you out, but I'm really busy right now unfortunately.

I didn't mean that all those languages would be used on MaNGOS itself. Im just saying those languages are going to be used throughout the scripting team (once it forms). Meaning whatever language fits the cores demands.

PS, forgive me for calling it an emulator. I come from ascent based cores, they aren't as...sophisticated as some.
