Accessing a new DB table

I want to add a new table to my database, but I'm not sure how to access it client side. I *think* I can send the database query from the core to the player via the chat box, then capture the chat line and send it to the appropriate addon, but I'm wondering if there is a more direct way for the player to get the new table's info. Could someone please help me? Thanks.

Also, I wasn't sure where to post it so I'm sorry if it is in the wrong place.

Thanks, Drako, that does give me some interesting ideas. But I was really looking for something that doesn't put things in the chat box.

For example, if you call GetAuctionItemInfo("type", index) from a WoW addon, it returns about a dozen different values for you to capture and use. I tried to make it return more values by altering the core, but it didn't work. Is it at all possible to return more values like this? I don't think I can make any new functions for use client-side, so I need to somehow alter the ones that exist. Does anyone know how to do this? Or is there another way I might access a new table client-side?

maybe that addon command just access an clientside function wich orders the infos from the server. look for UI events ( or similar) in wowwiki
