MaNGOS history

Hi,

I'd like to know a bit more about it.

  • * Is MaNGOS the first wow server ever?
    * Who created the first MaNGOS file? And when?
    * What are the major steps of your history?
    * Which devs are here since the beginning?
    * Is MaNGOS your biggest project?
    * Is there any "spiritual guide" in the team? (a leader? :P)

I hope I'll have some devs answers!

Perhaps we could create a wiki page with these infos...

Thanks

The GotWoW history on http://gotwow.ic.cz/ used to have a pretty good summary of emulator history, and showed which emulators had been built on others. They also had a gallery with pictures and logos of old stuff up and running.

If the site happens to be down - it is from time to time - the google cache has a copy usually. "gotwow mangos" as search term should lead to it.

Short version: we're not the first, most of us are here since 2005, and we're probably the longest living project in this category. Drama-free, relaxed folks :)

Now I do feel old(ish). Seems like just a few years ago the C-64 was king of home computers. It's hard to believe that the original Star Wars is now as old as those black & white classics were when I was a kid watching them on Saturday afternoons.

I wonder what WoW would have been like on the C-64? lol
