Of course it's possible.. you could do almost anything (use awesome spells and effects put on the latests armor sets and weapons.. and all that ).. but as Cyberfreak said it's a little hard at first to create a server and making it work. True confessions: I've never compiled a thing in my life. What I'd like to do, if at all possible, is make my own WoW Private Server, turn on some God-mode esque thing, and beat the Lich King (if not necessarily every inch of Icecrown Citadel).

Is this possible with mangos?

If not, is it possible to do so with some additions to mangos, or through some other type of emulation?

Or is this a silly pipe dream of mine?

Short version: Yes it is.

Long version: For doing this without any experience in compiling, manage databases, etc, you are here wrong. The easiest way would be to find a existing server or a repack of core and databases, premodified for your wishes, e.g. an instant 80 Server with T7 start equipment. Both is not allowed to spread here, but there are many other forums which hosting informations and repacks for doing this.

As a personal hint, you properly will not have fun with the game when you start as superman and kill the last boss with 1 key.
