[resolved]NPC's laughing at me !

Question

Hello all !

Desperatly need help to extract mmaps.

At this point npc's are laughing at me escaping in walls and landscape where I can't get to them! This can not go on !^^

Ok I understtood I need to compile tools to start... but how do I do that?

What tool? Where are they? and how do I compile?

Tryed launching ad.exe in my wow file, got the following message :

Map & DBC Extractor

No locales detected

Got the info that mmaps are here : https://github.com/mangos/mangos/tree/m … ntrib/mmap

But what do I do with these program lines?

To make it short I would very much appreciate a detailed procedure to enhance my server with missing mmaps.

Just consider I'm a noob (yes I am^^) and please explain me step by step.

Hi rumpilstilskin,

I am wildly assuming you are using WoTLK. The procedure is pretty much the same for all of them anyway.

1) copy everything from contrib/extractor_binary to your wow folder

2) right-click and choose Git Bash from the menu - a new window should open

3) type in ExtractResources.sh

4) WAIT A LOOOOONG TIME

Ok done... but I'm not sure it's really done !

First of all it took only half an hour... strange since my computer is 3 years old and I have a slow internet connexion...

But I have the following message in the extractor : « Finished creating MoveMaps »

Now in my extractor_binary file I have the following folders created today:

Buildings, with WMO and M2 files

mmaps, empty :(

vmaps, with VMO and VMTILE files

When starting to creat MoveMaps I had the following message on the console :

'maps' directory is empty or does not exist

Wed Aug 15 10:55:34 GMT 2012: (Re)created map 1

'maps' directory is empty or does not exist

Wed Aug 15 10:55:34 GMT 2012: (Re)created map 718

Wed Aug 15 10:55:45 GMT 2012: Finished creating MoveMaps

Can't find where these MoveMaps have been created. :(

Also the MoveMaps could they be in the « maps » folder? I am confused since a folder named « mmaps » have been created.

I do have a « maps » folder in C/mangos with maps from « 0002035.map » to « 7242732.map »... are these the MoveMaps?

Other question could these maps created when I tryed to upgrad from DB version 401 to 404 not be read by my still 401 DB version (missed something in upgradind and am still playing in 401 version^^)

Hi guys !

Sorry I didn't answer your messages here, I had tones of work !

Ok

@ LilleCarl tried C:\\whereisyourad.exe, got the message : Le chemin d'accès spécifié est introuvable. In clear : The specified access path is not found.

@ shlainn got your message clear and load^^... unfortunately, tried again launching ad.exe directly from my wow folder, the program runs... got brand new maps and dbc... but no mmaps ! And the best part of it all is that ad.exe just shuts down before event giving me the detail of his work !

Just wonder... why do I fell so stupid when it comes to my wow server...

Anyway... maybe the best solution would be to start all over from scratch ! I'm not happy with this server not updated! The problem if I start all over is that I am going to lose all the quest and items I created on my server... my wife is going to hate that... well might just get ready for that...

okay, so now you have maps and dbc. please check that both folders contain files.

If yes, your ad.exe works correctly.

after that copy everything from extractor_binary to your WOW folder.

gitbash.

run.

you should be done.

EDIT to clarify:

building MMAPS requires MAPS and VMAPS. building VMAPS also requires MAPS. (both statements are IIRC)

your MAPS extraction fails, because ad.exe needs to be in the same folder as WOW to work.

please copy every single file from extractor_binary to wow.

I assume this we also have a bit of a language problem here, am I right? ;)

Great ! finaly the folder mmaps is slowly being created with mmaps !

questions... always questions...

should we shut off the server in the process or can we continue playing?

also once the mmaps are finished created, where should I put the folder?

also should I move the maps, vmaps and dpc files created in the wow folder elswhere, if so where too?

The folders 'buildings', 'dbc', 'maps', 'mmaps' and 'vmaps' should be copied into the folder of your MaNGOS-WotLK server path (the folder, where the realmd and mangosd binaries are).

If you really, really, really want, you can put these into a subfolder of your MaNGOS-WotLK server path (like 'data'), but remember to modify the 'mangosd,conf' file so that you point from the MaNGOS-WotLK server path to the subfolder 'data' like this:

(...)
DataDir = "data"
(...)

This means, that mangosd will look for the folders 'buildings', 'dbc', 'maps', 'mmaps' and 'vmaps' within the path <pathtoMaNGOS-WotLK-Server>\\data .
