Greetings fellow mangos users,

the last years, getting into mangos has always been an undefined process for both you, and us as a team. Since we now have quite a few ambitious users here, willing to learn let us see how we can build a proper path to knowledge!

As an introduction to the topic, I'd like to throw in an article from a Ubuntu team member in charge of getting users into development:

http://daniel.holba.ch/blog/2012/08/bringing-new-developers-up-to-scratch/

I'd like to hear opinions on this and develop a process for you and mangos! Since UnkleNuke already spearheaded with the mangos university, we now shall fill it's halls :)

Hey theluda,

the article starts out nicely and then deteriorates into specifics. I was a bit disappointed.

How did you envision to implement the processes and ideas described here in an environment like MaNGOS (we do not even have a patch submission forum...)?

I like this line of thinking, a bug tracker of sorts would be Dandy but wouldn't we just use github for this? not all encompassing I know but it surely would do the job, right??

I intend to get heaps more hands on time with mangos in the next month or two after some changes in home life come to pass... ought to keep me suitably distracted I think.

few things, which is stucking on development - school and web designing. Just wanted to say that i'm interested and going to work, but basically on wotlk branch, because cata download will take a while (low download speed, low internet), in comming week going to release first my updated vehicle patch and going to contribute it.

i no need any premissions in repo - better if it will kept as pull requests and will good reviewed.

sorry for bad english - sanctum32

I think there are a lot of people who want to get involved but feel left out or don't know how...

It would probably help if there were explicit goals that were set up in a project management type of pathway, where time, resources, and priorities were focused in a way where more of the community can participate and help locate the missing pieces...

This also means probably designing some tools or utilities where random people can get the info you guys need without having to chase it all down yourselves. I read the forums here more than most and I frankly get no real feel for how things are going besides waiting on some scripts, database updates, or code tweaks.

The vast majority of us are never going to be professional programmers or DB gurus, but if there is a way lined up to help move this all forward in a more streamlined process it would surely make the biggest challenges more bite sized.
