Hello, my name is Matt. I've never done anything like this before and I have no clue where to begin. I'm currently doing a software development course at college so I do already know a bit about programming and databases. If someone could point me in the right direction for getting started, I would really appreciate it

What areas would you be interested in and languages too ?

Core is c++

Scripting is c++ and MySQL

Database is MySQL

Although there are small sub projects that use other languages like php, C# and VB.Net

They all sound really interesting to me to be honest. I've managed to set up a Zero server now and I was thinking of trying to do some scripting but I don't have any experience with C++. At college we're being taught C#. I don't if they are similar at all but I'll get started on some tutorials when I can.
