Changes to item_template not reflected in game

I've been trying to tweak some custom items for my personal server, but have been running into troubles. I know enough to stop the server after making database changes, but this doesn't seem to be enough.

Deleting an item completely IS reflected in-game, in that you can no longer create it with .additem

However, editing, or inserting a new version of, and item. I make such a changne, ensuring it is committed into the databse, and start the server again. BUt when i add the item again, I get the first version of it rather than the new one.

What are my options for trying to fix this?

What Mangos version are you using?

I'm running MangosTwo

Do you clean Client cache files after changing items?

No, I'm not. Guess this is the part I'm missing. Where are these files hiding? In the Mangos directory structure? WoW install directory structure?

thanks for the quick response.

As far as I remember they are in /WDB folder in your WoW install directory. There are some .wdb files - these ones you should delete.

I'm not quite familliar with 3.x WoW versions, I heard items are hardcoded in DBC someway. If cleaning the cache doesn't help you, you might want to wait for a more competent reply concerning your version.

Anyway, good luck with it!

Hey there,

Items are cached in the client.

To clear this cache do the following:

Browse to: WoWFolder/Cache/WDB/en**/ and delete or rename itemcache.wdb

You will need to make sure the server is off when doing database updates or restart it after you have made the changes.

That method doesn't work in MaNGOS Three, does it? Because I did exactly that, and no change was reflected. I altered a Copper Wire ring into an entirely new item. The name was successfully changed, yes, but not the stats. As in, I could search for the item successfully via .lookup item Cheater (Haha yeah. 32555 Dodge & Defense. I can totally solo Ellwyn Forest.) and it popped up, but the ring was the same as before.

Realmd and Mangosd and the client were totally off when the cache was deleted.

You won't get the stats to update on the tooltip.

These are fixed by blizzard in the client and as far as I'm aware it would require a client to be patched to display the info in the tooltip. Other devs may know more on this.

Ah, thanks. I really need to look into that. Since it's only me playing, it shouldn't be a horrible thing.

I also really need to donate $24.74 toward the community. Exactly that amount. So damn helpful.
