I've tanked on retail, going behind back never occurred. Here you can see how's the retail model, the mobs aren't even positioning fully ( )

Bone Shield charge is removed only by direct spells and melee attacks. (http://www.wowwiki.com/Bone_Shield) = "AoE's, DoT ticks, auras and bleeds do not consume bones." Also, each Bone Shield charge should have 2 seconds internal cooldown. (http://pwnwear.com/2010/02/08/bone-shield-has-2s-cooldown/)
