How big is Maximum memory and player that mangos can support ?
Senpuria replied to a topic in OldGeneral discussion
Indeed, this thread is definately playing with fire. If we have reason to believe anybody is hosting a public server that runs on MaNGOS it will be a permanent ban. Friends & Family = Private MaNGOS server. Friends & Family + people you don't know = Public MaNGOS server. Stress testing is good and all, but there's no way somebody can host a "development" server, meaning just used to test bugs etc, could get over 500 players online everytime it came to testing that were just family and friends. Keep it clean! =) -
I doubt that very much. Everybody who views these forums or is a part of this community knows full well MaNGOS is an educational project. Right? And how do you propose we stop thousands of people making public servers without destroying the project? I think your the one who's confused, keep your scripts =)
-
Why would you need an account registration page for a private server?
-
There's no real "General discussion" sections atall on the forums, i guess this is the best place to leave it until we sort out a new section for off-topic posts. Welcome back, glad to hear your doing well.

lol, i was wondering wether to delete or just lock the topic. I think i'll lock it in case anyone ever comes accross the same problem Good to hear you sorted things out though.

[Guide] Updating for Windows
Senpuria replied to Auntie Mangos's topic in OldInstallation, configuration & upgrades
Stuck for the time being, has some useful information. Thanks. -
It depends what OS your working with.
-
With 1GB of RAM your probably looking at around 20 players with green to yellow lat. 30 or above would probably result in red lat most of the time.
-
Ubuntu would probably be the best linux OS for a private server.

A simple way to make an NPC level a character is through quest scripts, since it can all be done through the database. Have a look at the wiki for UDB and check out some of the questing tables, and some of the npc tables to link it all together. In the end you should have a quest that you can take and hand back in for a certain amount of exp, to get that player to whatever level you'd want.
-
That should be something to do with scriptdev www.scriptdev2.com
-
Yeah, you can certainly use the replace query to replace an entry insted of having it as a duplicate entry.
-
Not being able to talk to the guards is a ScriptDev2 problem it sounds like. The other problems MUST be a database problem, i have a test server on my machine and it runs fine. What database are you using?
-
The boss should still be attackable even without SD2, but as for him not doing anything, yes, you need to compile scriptdev.
-
Yeah it should help, nice work.
-
The mana regen will be bugged after level 70 because theres no information for anything after level 70.
-
Simple my friend =) Open up SQLyog > mangos database > command Click on the "table data" tab, to bring up the information, smack bang in the middle is a coloum named security. The numbers correspond to the GM level. Change them and you'll be able to change what commands they can and can't use. Hope this helps man.
-
Welcome mate =) Congrats on the dev position
