1. another option is to install git bash go to the server\\contrib\\extractor_binary copy all those files to the client folder open git bash (right click anywhere in the folder and select git bash) and run "extractresources.sh" should do the whole thing for you - note will take some time.. i have a quad core 8gb ram and it does take a bit.
2. go to your src/server/contrib/vmap_extractor/win compile or src/server/contrib/extractor_binary/ put AD.EXE the folder of your client and run it will make a folder called vmaps - copy that to your server root (where your mangod.exe is) hope that gets you started
3. I retraced my steps - apparently the first compile of mangos was on "debug" - which is odd since I had it default to "release", so while it appeared to compile, it was not, and i kept rechecking the script for "release" - it was only when I went back and did it from scratch that I saw the "debug". All is good. attn mod: you can delete this thread, or leave it as another thing to check when people stumble on that error (and I see it posted a lot) - my first suggestion would be to make sure they have it set on "RELEASE" unlike noob me :-) cheers - glad you keep the project going!!
4. at the risk of sounding dumb, i double clicked a couple of the includes and some of them are missing! I rechecked the git fetch and all is up to date.
5. to help any of the devs offering a little assistant, i been compiling servers for little over 6yrs.. so no noob here (alhtough have been known to cross compile LOL) Ok, with that being said. I live and breath vanilla - just love it, I 've done everything up to cata. but prefer vanilla.. I compiled the script and imported as usual. ran perfect. flawless the first time (hey, after a few years it better :-) ) Then got a nasty bug - Oooo Ya, forgot to compile the script. - so went to do that. got the famous following error: 1>------ Build started: Project: ScriptDev0, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1> Extracting revision 1> The system cannot find the path specified. 1>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSBuild\\Microsoft.Cpp\\v4.0\\Microsoft.CppCommon.targets(151,5): error MSB6006: "cmd.exe" exited with code 3. ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== no biggy, things have changed over the years.. so reread the tuts - got al lthe correct git clones recompiled - same error. I moved the script0 to /src/bindings/script0 same error. So me thinks I am getting compiler procedures mixed up.. can anyone point me in the right direction. what is the path it cant find? current path layout: C:\\vanilla\\mangosZero_src\\server\\src\\bindings\\scriptdev0
6. Yes, If your using MaNGOS Zero to do this quest I don't think it will work. Playerbot uses the 'get' command to get the bots to travel to rolfs corpse, obtained from the 'survey' command. When the bot try to open the gameobject this triggers a CMSG_GAMEOBJ_REPORT_USE packet, that gives the bots the opportunity to TurnInQuest() and AcceptQuest() the next quest. The problem is the CMSG_GAMEOBJ_REPORT_USE opcode is still quarantined on the MaNGOS Zero, so it won't work. Hope this helps I remember reading that in the mangos forums. so was not surprised. is there a work around? how about an "additem" or "addquest" - i can do it as a gm, just trying to figure a way to do it as a player. giving the command "addquest" is not at the top of my list (yet) hehehehe
7. update - quest like discover rolfs fate bots cannot pick up or accept.. (i have to do a "quest add") just a fyi -Vanilla
8. good list! I agree! what i do, not sure if your procedure is the same... i click the vendor (leave that window open) and use the: /t botname s [shift-click an item displayed] (note:sometimes i just move my chat window to the right because the vendor windows is blocking my list) Is that the same for you?. I think you can click up to 3 items at once - seems to ignore all on that Cheers! -Vanilla 1.12.1
9. I think vanilla bots are set up different, because I see lots of people running into issues I dont have. As you mentioned configuring bots. I never touch my bots. I have a macro that summons them macro that invites them and im done selling is auto so i dont need to do much there - unless i need to empty their bags quest works fine auto accept, auto complete (and i click the rewards for them - no prob there) macro to collect (or scan) - and off they go while i fight The only time (which is rare - except in the beginning) i mess with them is during class quest - unless we are the same class i have to log out and log into them to get the quest, bluboy said that is something down the road. I know my son said there is a big pain in the a$$ with the collection - so maybe there is something different there not on the vanilla bots. I just do a scan, the macro the "get" command and im done. I'll be happy to check anyone's server (I do that a lot) I have all the clients (and servers) from vanilla - cataclysm (which I think ppl working with that one are brave as it leeches off blizzards server for access due to the streaming method they use) if you need a 3rd person tester.
10. O just a quick note: I run a vanilla server, I will never do a wotlk/tbc server - wotlk it totally a wreck and is in need of some serious scripting. most of them are auto complete in the DK area - and yes makes that story line absolutely horrible and boring - sorta like: why is the quest even there - just skip it. TBC I just never liked the new races. With vanilla its still a b**ch to play and even at low levels, you need to keep your head on (or loose it). With playerbots, I can tell you, it REALLY makes the game fun to play - even though I am on gm mode, i have yet to use any commands that off balance (other than a few .die commands in extreme situations). Its like a new game and I want to experience it with my new "group" LOL So as long as the "auto-stuff" is in the conf and can be toggled, I'm happy. I think players will like the fact that they can create their own group and not have to worry about a "pug" - One addition I would like to see it a flag that can be set to allow bots at a certain level. I would like the ability to make it so players cannot use this feature until they reach level x. and if you want to expand on that maybe they can have x and one level and after a second (tier) x more until they recha the gm designated max.
11. same way in retail. you have 5 players in your group they all have to get the loot, and the other 4 have to wait. me and my son are having this debate - TBC+ (most will agree) got boring because the game became too easy. there was no sense of accomplishment, items on the ground suddenly got "sparklies" because "...they are too hard to find" , elite groups became normal mobs ".. because they were too hard to beat" yet people still made it to level 60 with no issues on vanilla. - I fear that with the auto-complete quest "because its too tedious" we falling in the same trap that is killing blizzard. these days its like "Big whoop!! you got a mount" when in the old days - it was a thing to drool over (mostly because you had to be level 40! and seeing a epic mount was REALLY RARE!! these days - they're everywhere) - murlocs were hated and feared (and sometimes cause for rage quit). these days - "..meh whatever, I can take out a camp solo". I may be wrong, but I was thinking the playerbot addition was to create "players" to adventure with both for the "soloist" and for servers with low populations. So far most the post here have been how to automate them - (and as stated in my previous post) you can hand out gm commands if you want it that easy - i.e. "quest complete [questid]" Maybe I am mistaken. What are the bots for?
12. @darkfr3ak How do you level your bots if you ignore all the quest?
13. doesn't the "auto complete" quest defeat the purpose of a playerbot?(frome a player perspective) or are we looking for a 100% automated extra player(s)? and if that is the case, why not just ".gm ON" your way through the game and skip the bots? and/or give players a similar command. why harrass them with the complexity of multiple bots, when a few simple commands will do the trick. I personally see the player bots and just that, companions someone to adventure with to help with the tough stuff and fly through the easy stuff. It would seem that if one wants to automate everything, having them is pointless as there are tons of other commands that would better serve someone. And blu boys hard work would appear as a sign of insanity - sorta like creating a bot(s) to automate the GM ON command. auto this, auto that. but from a player perspective that does not have "GOD CONTROL" this is a fantastic twist on an old game (sort of like a GW style game play). Even as a gm, I find it more enjoyable now playing with a few extra toons, and leveling them up. They craft, gather level and train - with a little help from the player. My suggestion: stay away from the dark side of "automation". Mangos has tons of automation command that the level can be changed to allow players the use of these commands. just my 2.5c worth
14. The imp will now automatically use firebolt in it's attack Hope this helps o i missed that one. i just saw that as i posted, from the help command. thanks!
15. just testing lock pets.. got imp.. set to defense but only attacks melee. i have to tell it to cast fire bolt - if memory server right, isn't firebolt the imps default attack mode? silly for him to be up in combat punching dudes
16. Interesting about quest items not being stackable. Have you checked whether the items are stackable in the player's bag? I will take a look myself when I have a bit more time. Thanks for your interest LOL no, I knew that post was not going to come out right. its one of those things that work in practice, difficult to explain. lets say bot has a 20 slotter. 18 slots full of whatever. bots help kill a mob that you need to loot 4 widgets. first loot - some more junk now at 19 slots full. 2nd loot - a quest item picked up. (3 more to go) now bag is full at 20/20 slots. mob drops another quest item. bot will NOT LOOT because its bag is full - even if the quest item IS A STACKABLE item. Pie for Billy is a good one to test on. Have to get 4 chunks of meat. load up a bot bag so there is one slot left. loot the mob (I think most private server default to either 80% or 100% drop rate). Since the last loot just maxed out the bag, if your next kill yields a quest item drop, the bot will not loot it, because its bags are considered "full". hows that :-) just a note for you. If I post that something is not working, it is by NO MEANS a complaint (or whine), it is merely a "FYI" for you to tinker with. So I pray you do not take it as a negative comment, as it is meant purely for information purposes only. Kinda like "... here's another" cheers!!
17. bots will stop looting quest (stackable) quest items, once their bags are full. boar meat stacks. but if their bags are full, they will stop looting. when the bots are looting, once their bag is full they stop - REGARDLESS IF THE ITEM LOOTING IS STACKABLE. I realized this when i was doing pie for billy. They were looting garbage and the quest item boar meat, but once their bags filled up, it didnt matter if they needed 2 or 3 more peices of meat, they are triggered NOT to loot because their bags are full. so to test I emptied their bags (traded to me) and then cont. the quest and sure enough, they started looting again. not a bug, but maybe a flag that they are checking that the item looted is a required quest item and its stackable, TAKE IT. hope that made sense lol
18. /p quest list is not an options for zero (yet) :-(
19. Fixed. I knew tthis was a prob somewhere, as my server logs show constant issues with battle ground. but it only appeared to be aggrivated by the playerbot. but the below method fixed it. no more crash btw - the above snipped - my system never even got that far. 3...2...1(crash) i KNEW I saw that somewhere - here is the original link. https://github.com/mangos-zero/server/pull/15
20. Hmm, I'm not sure that is the accepted way to close the mangosd daemon. Fine to use ctrl-c to close the realmd daemon, but for mangosd/mangosd.exe I think it would be better to server shutdown <time delay> at the server console. Hope this helps i've done it both ways (normally its been just ctrl-c and works fine) but in game OR at console, still does a hard lock, again this is only an issue with the server that has a the playerbot (i have both a non zero and bot-zero).
21. OK, thanks for the info - take your time (I write too, i know how it goes LOL) I also saw somewhere that there was an update for teh mangosd.exe crash on exit. Was that fix for a Non-Zero release as well. I noticed that since i have the player bot going, when I ctrl-c to exit out of mangosd - it crashes so hard i have to use the taskman to kill it. thanks!
22. something fun, and hopefully useful, I could not find many website templates that cover the Zero branch. This is a work in progress, however it is at a point where it is functional and able to use live. Some features (and my testers keep tossing me new ideas): Registration Basic DB Items,Quests,NPC/Mobs (more coming soon) Site Status Who's Online(very simple) Multi-lingual capability Ease of adding your own pages In a nutshell, I combined a wowhead style (very basic) with a website. Album here http://imageshack.us/g/46/vwowquestsel2b.png/ I had a few goals in mind when I made this. Most of my friends are not super versed in PHP so I wanted to make this as easy as possible, so that eliminated the OOP. One of the earlier problems I had with my other sites, was, adding custom pages were a nightmare. This one, hopefully, seems to be much easier (instructions on the wiki). I also wanted it so that any language could use it, but, I only have the English file (if someone can whip up a bad English that's cool too LOL, no seriously love to see some other languages added) THE BAD: Ok the coding is absolutely horrible, and I am in the process of cleaning it up. So no flames there - If you have Ideas for more efficient ways of doing some of the routines, by all means hook me up. I'll eventually get around to it. incomplete instruction file - but to the pro's this should be an easy setup. just edit the dbvars.php.dist and rename it, and you should be fine. Oddly, this does not work well with chrome, dunno why, i tested it in safari, ie9, FF, and a few others and its fine. but hey! who uses chrome anyways (so guess I'll fix that later) IT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS - back up your changes if you are going to keep updating! It will overwrite While this is not "bad" per'se, this only works with zero. You will get errors all over the place otherwise. Now a few of my testers ARE using it with WOTLK+, but they are also changing the code to make it match - most of the errors you will get are in the db search section). Will I do a TBC+, NO. But I can get you in touch with those that are making changes - I think one person I making a new branch with those changes. Anyways.. thought I would share. It is a very fun project to work on. Challenging as well. If anyone knows the formula for getting a NPC/Mob location (by name ) would love to hear it. its the only thing that is not very accurate in the search engine. Also, any ideas submitted will be credited accordingly (just make sure you tell me what name you want to use). enjoy!! SVN [== php ==] svn checkout http://vanilla-wow-db.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ vanilla-wow-db-read-only
23. o you know what - just rechecked - my bad - they are selling.. it just the "white" (to me most of that is junk to lol) that is not. that is a good idea for a addon. there is a really good addon for v2.4.x + "loot filter". I would grab that for some ideas on sellling. sooo ok, as I prev. stated - bots working flawlessly :-D
24. set this to 1, and you're done I'm working on an addon, which should make "botting" easier, but its my first contact with lua, so it can take a while. way ahead of you = does not work.. still comes up with "items i can sell are...."
25. same issue here. I was in fargo mine.. and heading back to town, bot got attacked i went to help, only to find that they dropped below ground an were in one of the mine tunnels!!! "ghosting" seems to be a big issue with the bots. its horrible with anything underground, tunnels, caves etc and a fight ensues above ground.
