mangos two Updating DB?

If I update my database with the newer updated one on github, will it overwrite my changes to it?

Should I just install it the same way?

 

I dont want to lose my custom stuff, or peoples characters, or realm info, etc.

Forgot to add, you can always alter updates to fit your needs to help prevent overwrites.  If you have any questions about that feel free to ask, i or one of the other devs will be happy to help.

For database updates, you are for the most part safe.

You could always check the update with your custome content to verify any conflicts. (If the update will changes movetype  from 2 to 0 in creature table for npc that has the id 1234.) Then any changes you made would to that same npc would be gone.

The extra stuff i added is probably safe, im more worried about values for edits being overwritten.

had to edit a few quests etc to get them working.
