[Torrent] Getting all Clients

Unfortunately I am not allowed to use our datacenter for this purpose. Nonetheless, to make up for it I will set my own server up as a dedicated seed for as long as I can. My server is up 24/7 so that should help.

I will try to find some friends whom might help with the seeding. It has been such a hell trying to find a client, that I will not let this one die.

For those of you whom have set their client to enable Encrypted connections: My server allows encrypted connections.

I notice some broken pieces on some clients. The errors I receive are:

piece 2871 failed hash check, re-downloading it

piece 507 failed hash check, re-downloading it

I know it is re-downloading it, but I have gotten these messages several times. My uTorrent just simply stopped downloading the torrent altogether, luckily bittornado just tries again. I would recommend using a different client if your client stops downloading at a certain point over and over again.

I hope this helps some people whom might have been stuck as well.

The client however starts okay and looks okay. However when I extract DBC files even there I got errors of missing files.

Are you sure this client is not optimized or missing data?

EDIT:

I will simply try to build the data anyways. If it works I will let you know that these errors when they occur can be ignored.

The server does boot up fine with the data collected from this client. Even though there were some errors. This torrent may be based on a re-designed client from Blizzard. At least that is what a friend of mine told me comparing it to his original Blizzard Client.

Hi, you need to recompile the extraction tools from the mangos directory and try to extract the maps again.

2.4.3 and 4.3.4 plus 5.1.0 are always getting updated. Even so you can still download the 5.1.0 from Blizzard. Sometimes we experience problems with 5.1.0 Seeding but not often.

No, text is populated from a Database such as UDB, YTDB, Project Silvermoon, etc. Pretty much all text is provided by the database.

Isn't this the wrong thread for this? Either way, this isn't hard. You simply do this:

  • Place ad.exe, vmapExtractor.exe, and vmap_Assembler.exe in your Lich King folder
  • Open a command prompt in your Lich King folder. You can do this in Windows 7 by holding the left shift key, right-clicking on your Lich King folder, and choosing "Open command window here"
  • Type ad.exe, press enter, and wait for it to finish
  • Type vmapExtractor.exe, press enter, and wait for it to finish
  • Type mkdir vmaps and press enter
  • Type vmap_assembler.exe buildings vmaps, press enter, and let it finish
  • Once it finishes you may close the command window

You will now have your dbc, maps, and vmaps folders with the correct data in them. Copy them into your server folder in Windows or transfer them to you Linux server and place them in the MaNGOS installation directory there. You may now start your server.

Hey there!

So, i've been wanting to make my own 2.4.3 server to mess around on, since im a bit interested in c++ and scripting in general and could be a fun way to let the creativity grow =)

And i just want to know, does these torrents contain CLEAN installs of WoW? i.e non-modified data files, because i've been trying to download several so-claimed TBC torrents, but their data were all pre-modified in some way so i couldn't use MANGOS with them.

TL:DR

Can i use these torrents for setting up mangos?

Yes, I have used each of these torrents to test Mangos

- They are all generally clean (at worse there are maybe some extra addons present)

But all can easily be used with Mangos.

I thought maybe you were this new IP that popped up in uTorrent with plenty o' bandwidth, but this works even better!

Edit: Is it required that I run enGB for some reason? I usually grab enUS.

Hi,

Not required... they are compatible either way so it should make no difference. When you run the program it will ask which lang to download :)

I've not tested enUS with those exe's but it should not matter.

Yep, I got the prompt (hence the question). It's just been a loooong time since I've run mangos, so I thought I'd ask.

Just an FYI, the TBC torrent appears to be dead =/ (zero seeds, zero peers)

I've got a dedicated server ready and waiting to torrent (and then perma-seed) it, if anyone still has a copy of the original torrent
