How to set up a server? - HELP

OK

Now Hello,

I know you all managed to start a server or most of you.....so please read this lines with patience!

4 years have passed since i had my last server (Sylvermoon project) many have changed .... now i want to reopen it for my old world of warcraft friends.

I have downloaded the new x64 release but i'm doing something wrong ... (many have changed and people are randomly explaining)

So...what i did:

1 - Downloaded the new release

2- Instaled XAAMP, SQLyog

3- Configured the server .cfg, mysql acces...etc

4- Installed C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2010 x64 as it is required.

After this 4 easy steps everything goes dark and i'm getting all kind of errors.

Can some one point me in the right direction for a tutorial that is working and is not outdated, or write to me a few lines regarding the installation?

(i tried many tutorials and i got only errors, so i'm asking you because i'm sick trying and i think i'm doing something wrong)

Could you please provide the error messages you get? Otherwise we can only guess what might went wrong.

Have you extracted the game assets (dbc, maps) from World of Warcraft and put them into your mangos root folder?

First error is when i execute thead.exe ( stat - stop )

And the next extractors start-stop in the same way.

.

I installed the game till CATA and added the extractors in the same places.

This error is it what i think it is ? it took me a while to print-screen this .... i got the GB version ....

And the next error comes when i start the server .... the database is old....

I did not had time to start all the procedures because i must go to work. This is what i have got for the moment.

When i get back home i will come with more errors and questions.

What version of Wow are you trying to extract from ?

These sort of errors sometimes occur when you have an incomplete cata client (it happens a lot).

I have installed the game from the original CD's without any other patch.

I will try the download from the link above and see if i get any other errors.

ok, check your version of cata (I can't remember the base version from the cd)

but you need version 4.3.4 Build 15595 for it to work correctly with mangos.

Madmax has recently patched his upto this level so may be able to point you in the right direction for patches

I have talked to him and told me to post my problem here.

After making the download i will come back with news.

One other question ..... initially we wanted to go for a classic server ... are any differences between the installation steps ?

All Clients need to be patched to the last available patch for that expansion to be used with mangos

The MangosZero build process is currently different to the others, but there is a detailed installation guide in our Wiki (Link at top of the screen)

4.3.4 Files can be found here: http://getmangos.eu/madmax/WorldofWarcraft4.3.4.rar

Then run this in the root of the extracted WoW folder: http://getmangos.eu/madmax/WoWRegeneration.exe

This will give you all the needed wow files

Ok

Finished with ad.exe and vmapExtractor.exe with no errors.

I started to create tables......on mangos DB execute at Query 318 i get

I unchecked the option to stop at any errors and executed the DB.

Hey,

You need to apply updates to the database.

Its asking for the update linked below, you can find all these in the server folder when you cloned it under the SQL/Updates folder.

Also, take note of the world "mangos" in the filename, it is indicating which database is outdated/the file needs to be applied to

Greetings. Not to threadjack but after using the Regeneration.exe to completion, what's the next step to decompress the installation? If I open the WoW.exe, I get about 10min of the launcher.exe running, then a crash saying that the launcher.exe not found. At this point in the process it's partially decompressed the download, expanding it to about 27GB in size.

I've tried this 3 times, on clean downloads each time. My computer's a decent beast so it's not a lack of power or space on the drive. Any ideas would be appreciated.
