  1. I guess a few guides on using eventai, and scripting might help. Things like "when do I use EventAI and when do I need to write scripts" might be good topics to be covered.
  2. Wee, the sheep was close to forgetting this. Done now.
  3. May I add a suggestion? MediaWiki.org has a pretty damn good page collection about the database behind MediaWiki, starting at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Database_layout. This page sums up which tables added / removed per MediaWiki version, and single table pages like http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Categorylinks_table have a great style for describing tables, and the changes. What do you think? I'd copy the required templates over to our Wiki, and adapt them for our needs, if more people - except me - like the style
  4. *whispers* sheeps only have secret super powers, and little tech gnomes doing the dirty work for em.
  5. The GotWoW history on http://gotwow.ic.cz/ used to have a pretty good summary of emulator history, and showed which emulators had been built on others. They also had a gallery with pictures and logos of old stuff up and running. If the site happens to be down - it is from time to time - the google cache has a copy usually. "gotwow mangos" as search term should lead to it. Short version: we're not the first, most of us are here since 2005, and we're probably the longest living project in this category. Drama-free, relaxed folks
  6. And thus, DasBlub now officially is on board of the mothership also known as mangos Welcome!
  7. For future git outages, please make sure to check the github status page first. The status page would have revealed that github was having issues yesterday Besides we have no super awesome powers that would allow us to fix the github servers.
  8. Change is coming. Cataclysm and all that might not only affect Azeroth
  9. If we're talking about two physical machines, freghars' hint applies: MySQL user names usually have a hostname or ip set to define from where you may access and use the user.
  10. Things should be back to the default style within the next few minutes though.
  11. Nothing special. Temporary to fix some stuff in the other style
  12. Thank you very much for your efforts. The sheep will add some more shiny things, too. I'd like to highlight freghars suggestions on database changes, too. That is one thing bothering me for a while, and doing a proper database would be an epic achievement for this community. MySQL Workbench is a good tool for such a task.
  13. Obviously there is no perfect solution to tracking issues for open source projects. I've been using quite a few commercial and free tools over the last few years, including a few enterprise solutions at work, and man... nothing really suits well. I guess in our case, a forum / issue tracking hybrid would not hurt. As we have seen over the last five years, the bug report and patches sections are pretty much the places to be when it comes to reporting and fixing issues. While I personally do prefer discussions and issues on different tools, for mangos a combination smells better. Anyway, I'd love to hear more opinions, and probably - in case someone of you has used on of the forum issue trackers like IP.Tracker, etc. - even read a bit of your experience with those tools.
  14. I am actually looking forward to the Cataclysm, though I have to admit that I prefer vanilla WoW (nostalgia is a thing of being old I guess). It's changing most stuff we all now from back the past years, and probably will change as much of "the" WoW experience to bring back a bit of the "new" feeling from 2004.
  15. Sheep wins over crappy mobile phone, Wiki works again. Sorry for the delay.
  16. The sheep will add SSL logins sooner or later, but I can't tell you if this week or in a month. Sheep is stuck in Italy in a low tech area.
  17. Actually I was doing so, but got stuck in Italy without access to the interwebs, and still am here with crappy mobile phone webs I'll try fixing this this evening.

    What if...

What if I provide a 2nd forum installation within the next weeks and we'll all build us a clean forum the way we like it?
  19. Sorry, but I can not supply https support. Certificate working in every major browser for encrypting a development forums sounds rather odd to me. Would increase the monthly bills but not do any good IMHO. Care to share your rationale for SSL/TLS encryption for a discussion forum?
  20. Actually yes, I was considering a forum plugin that provides bug tracking inside these boards. You could actually turn the bug reports section into a real bug tracker with revision, etc. and change the patch submission section to tickets, too. Somewhere along those lines it would work.

    What if...

    More precision please.

    What if...

I'll make a start here: I'd bring back the source code management topics. There are so many great git hints inside which even experienced git users surely would miss.
  23. Imagine it was a wonderful day, and the mangos community forums would be empty, except for all of the great people we have here. Zero topics, no guides, no issue reports, patches whatsoever here, and only the "newly" opened community café (yus yus, this place) would exist. Imagine you had the powers to add one topic, feature, whatsoever comes to your mind to our community to make it better, prettier, funnier. Now list this one thing here. Your sheep wants to know what it would be.
  24. Regarding reverse engineering one should remember that some countries have laws giving students the right to reverse engineer and circumvent protected systems for the sole purpose of learning. IMHO that is something everyone should fight for, and the loss of this right - like for U.S. citizens - is one of the stones marking the death of democracy *sigh*
